The Akha hill tribe people live in SE Asia in the mountains of Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, China. Do to natural resource extraction and mono crop agriculture, it is becoming very hard for the Akha to hunt and gather in what is left of their community forest.

  • One month before, I stayed only one night in Muang-sing. It is very beuatifull location surrounded by mountains. The valley is occupied by Liu and Lanna people (as local people explained) and hills by other ethnics. My guider explained that Western visitors do not stay in M-S, but in the mountains. I think it is the best time for them to see. Things are changing very fast there. Modern roads are paved. Farm lands are exploited by the Chinese to plant banana...

  • Banana Pine Trees Rubber Gum Sugar cane flowers. Swidden farming hunting and gathering is far superior to any modern day agriculture methods. Swidden farm is based on healthy community forest and small kitchen gardens. Swidden requires moving farming location every 15to20 years in order to allow the farming land to reforest into jungle. This is real "Health Insurance"

  • I saw Logging Lord as you requested. it is a good film. You are Right The Logs are Gold but the Logs are more then that. The Logs or Trees are the Lungs of the planet, the trees give us a place to hunt and fish for our foods. keep the watershed healthy for clean water, Now Climate Change is upon US all

  • @silvertiger151

    yeah. I know.

    I ahvea question for him:

How do you decide which dogs you eat, and which ones walk around the camp wagging their tails and curling up next to your feet each night after you pet them?

  • wait, if i heard correctly, did you say you've eaten some snake and dog? like the dogs that are walking around in the video were going to end up as food? sorry but that's sick.

  • when i ate with him we cooked store bought food, but he did make the cups & chop sticks, nice place i enjoyed my stay there too

  • u fucked up my ear cunt

  • I felt that I have upset you, sorry If i did. I went to Thailand to help the minority's and went to Laos shortly after that because I realized that Business's exploit the minority and I no longer wanted to contribute to the plight of capital syndication. In Muang Sing Laos Exotissimo Travel agent gave the minorities orange pills and asking me if I had any pills to give to the villagers. I thought that this was weird the travel agent is no doctor and handing out random pills. Weird

  • Blackcouqar3, I, born in village south Laos. At least 3 different tones and cultures. 5 years when I first in Yunnan, China, I met a Bai man. He said: How to enjoy flower garden with only roses. Minorities in Big China are concentrated in Yunnan, about 50 in all. But small Laos with 5 m-lions has more than 60. Thailand looks on minorities recently for it can earn money from that. I don't like people take minorities as zoo. Go, join life with them OK, but not just see and give money to them.

  • Ragtimemedia, sorry for I did not know about that. Bibble for that tribe should be in the language of that tribe. I think as I am seeing Lao authority at any era does not force any ethnic society to adopt Lao. And why we have LP tone, VT tone, SV tone, PKS tone and so on with folk songs for each zone. In I-shan these songs are popularly sung. If Lao authority set down a central oppression on Laos, there will be no multiple wearing manners, dialects, and songs. We should be proud of that.

  • as a scholar of Dieing Languages, I agree with for the most part. What makes me unhappy and what village elders have told me about their languages is that it is unfair that their Traditional Language is being Reduced to the biblical Text. What if the languages where translated into the Declaration of human rights instead of the bible. Why are the ethnic villagers forced into the bible way of life? Bible translator gut nouns & verbs from languages destroying and distorting traditional culture.
