  • Lawyer is clearly a dick. There are men and women in the Armed Forces who've lost arms and legs and only getting $200 a month. Nothing more. This 21 year old guy was drunk, loses a leg and gets $3.5 Mil. Complete BS

  • I guess the Appellate Court didn't agree with your bullshit case Smiley. Stop wasting the tax payers money on this. You are part of the reason that your profession has ZERO respect.

  • Sounds like the motorman/woman was innattentive to duty. If you see a garbage bag the size of a person, you stop. Whatever it is can easily foul the train, trip the emergency cock on the truck or start a massive fire. It sounds like a lot of money but this poor guy is out one leg for the next 50 years. There is no evidence that his intoxication caused him to fall on the track. We were not there so we can't judge him. The court did that for us. It is not illegal to be drunk on transit.

  • It's not a stupid jury

    It's not a stupid lawsuit

It's an unbelievably stupid train operator that said he saw something and didn't bother to stop...

  • This case will be appealed and you know it! The award will be reduced!

  • I say kudos to the subway driver. Its called natural selection. god forbid this dumb bastard has kids, we start the cycle again. Maybe you can be his kids lawyer too.

  • Damn, people sue for everything these days. The idiot was clearly at fault who fell onto the tracks. Now, if he were not drunk, then I would say, wow, that's too bad, hope he sues. But no, he decided to ride the subway while drunk. He should not have won that money, because the fall was logically his fault. Yes, the operators know that ppl get drunk, but people need to stop being idiots. If you're gonna ride the train drunk and fall and get hit, then you have to realize that U CAN'T SUE.

  • In my eyes, both parties are to blame. The driver did say he could have stopped but didnt bother, in my eyes that is laziness and negligent.

Although the guy was drunk, even though theres no proof how he got on the tracks he should have taken more care.

  • The law is the law. come on think of a city bus driver, and a drunk guy at the bus stop, you think the bus driver is not expecting drunks sitting by the side walk?

  • also money does cloud the mind of sound judgment and ethicks... To me it seems like money is doing the talking in this case.
