Two sources I can point to is an article done by the Future of Freedom Foundation, an ABC special done by John Stossel. If you disagree with these sources than fine I'll concede that you simply wont be persuaded and your demand for documentation is merely a screen for not having to listen to the arguement.

Gun ownership does not lead to an increase in violence in fact its the exact opposite.

@Trampadoo ..that isnt due to gun control. If gun control decreased crime than Mexico would have one of the lowest crime rates in the world, as such its the exact opposite and PAN pro-gun ownership politicans are assassinated more than anti-gun ownership politicans by the carteles. Criminals dont want an armed populuation. "practically worships guns." -The US views guns differently, historically speaking guns have been neccisary to survival in the US sort of like sword in old uncivilzed Europe.

"More children in the US die by guns than ppl shot in Germany overall per year" - Gun violence is more in the US than Germany yes...

"How is it harmless if it has to be cept in check by laws and kept out of politics?" - Because religious groups have the right to influence their governments in a democratic society. Their religion has no baring on if they can influence government or not. Unless again the PRI anti-clerical voting measures interest you.
