Part 1 of the interview for Paratrixa (animal related programme on Greek Skai TV) was aired on Thursday 8th October.
Vesna Jones, founder of Greek Animal Rescue [ www.greekanimalrescue.com ] is interviewed on Greek Skai (Sky) TV and talks about the dog, Ira, she rescued in Crete.
Vesna met Ira when she was visiting an animal friend on Crete in August 2008. She lived just outside Iraklion, hence the name Ira, given to the'barrel' dog who captured her heart. Although she sees dozens of 'barrel' dogs during every visit to Greece she couldn't forget Ira after first 'making contact' with her .... and that was the beginning of a subtle 'campaign' to free Ira.
Ira was finally re-homed in the U.K. in September this year.
A fantastic cause.Greece really needs for it's animal welfare laws to be brought up to that of those with the best animal welfare laws..as do many countries.Too many strays like Leo (doused with petrol and set alight) are attacked with no consequence for the inadequate males who generally do the crimes.
