What to do with your arms underwater when swimming front crawl - this is arguably the most important phase of the Front Crawl arms. Improvement here will positively influence the strength and drive that each stroke will give you through the water.

  • Nice stuff mark, thanks for sharing.

  • @JackieTreehorn2010 Many thanks for watching and posting your feedback.

  • Something about the 'S' stroke. From my perspective the debate about the S shape is quite nonsense. The S shape stroke is always right if you look at a freestyler's hand from outside, as it is a combined motion of body rotation and pull. But from the freestyler's own perspective, it is always not necessary to imitate the S by hand. Straight or arc shaped elbow movement is always more powerful and natural.

  • @chitailun Great feedback. Thank you for watching and giving your valuable thoughts on the clips in a useful and constructive manner. I hope future viewers benefit from your feedback too.

  • Imagine a comparison with a kayak. You have a double headed paddle and that represents your two arms. If you want to achieve maximum speed would you insert the paddle, pull, pause (Glide) and then repeat on the other side? I suggest the answer is no! You would insert, pull, insert pull, etc. The quickest speed will come this way. Also think of paddling a surfboard if you want to reach max speed you would paddle continuously for max speed. This is my input, I am not a hater, the video's good!

  • @changyUK Thank you for watching and posting your thoughts and feedback. Its always great when people feedback constructively and with explanations to back-up their beliefs (as you have). In this way at least everybody can benefit and learn from the channel - which was the whole point for setting it up. Thanks again. Mark

  • nice video learned the S pull never heared that before thanks.

  • Nothing wrong with front quadrant, which arm reach and 'pause' before catching, as long as having a great kicking and synchronized body to compensate. Great swimmers, like Thorpe and Sunyang all apply this. Your stroke is good in that the 'power phase' started quite early before your head. However, there is room to further improve the range if you can 'catch on side' with upper arm, and power if you can use the muscle on the back to pull with body rotation, rather than muscle on chest to press.

  • really clear and useful, thanks!

  • Excellent series of videos - thank you

  • who actually calls it "front crawl"? :P
