DreamState2

Whereas the first Dream State brief experiments with the ideas of the sensation of dreams and lucid dreaming this second dream state 3D brief focuses on the confusion and disorientation of being captive in a deep dream like state. There are randomness and a very abstractness to this kind of deep sleeping but is more narrative in script.

The film is focusing on a darker approach to dream sate so I wanted to produce a film with imagery that consists of dark tones, reds and poor quality imagery. Using Windows Movie Maker to edit and produce footage I was able to use effects that allowed me to tamper with tonal colour and distorting images by making them look older.
The idea for the film script came from experiences of being in deep sleep and dreaming about things that may have happened or expected to happen e.g. travelling, and the subconscious mind manipulating and distorting memories or expectations of the event and then you trying to make sense of it as you dream.
Script:
The idea behind this script is that a dream is taking place where you are expecting to travel somewhere from a past event (a forgotten memory) and there are continuous echoes of a woman that is not recognised in the dream who becomes distorted. I decide to use manikins to represent the woman rather that a filming an actress as it produces a more discomforting and uneasy effect which is often experienced in this particular dream state. Objects e.g. lamp and location is associated with the woman but is unclear why or relevance. I have often had dreams like this and it's not until I have woken up that I understand why an object, event or place is associated with e.g. a person. It is usually something really simple association but during the dream the confusion can disorientation becomes quiet frightening and frustration.

You did a very good job. Very impressive. I hope you dont mind me critiqueing. YOu filmed it quite well and the effects worked quite well. It really eiter use music or sounds or ambience or some sort sort of audio. But besides that it was great. If you are ever to bored you should come check out my videos sometime.
