The winter weather took it's toll on Snickers and he was very matted. So, Joan, our groomer, had to shave him down. Here's a look at Joan just getting started on shaving him. Snickers did really well for this and seemed to enjoy being shaved.

  • It's actually a combination of several things. 1) Length - length alone does not create this problem though as I have had my own dogs length longer than this and they are fine. 2) Water - the hair gets wet and then curls more. 3) Active dog - running around a lot, rolling in snow, etc. causes more matting than an inactive dog. 4) The most important - owners not brushing their dog and leaving it till it gets this way. Take the time to brush your dog each day and this won't happen.

  • Its not winter that causes him to be so matted- when the little ones go this long without being groomed -they have to be shaved down to the skin like is going on here);
