Danish Nature: Møns Klint (cliff) ft. Kashara Hiroko

Møns Klint is the highest cliff in Denmark with a unique biodiversity, reminiscent of how the country might have looked before industrialisation. The hundred meter tall chalk layers are still being eroded by the ocean, so the cliff changes appearance from time to time. It was formed about 75 million years ago. The chalk is made from the husks of algea found in the warm oceans of the time. During the ice ages, gletschers pushed the layers from the ocean to form the tall hills. It's easy to find fossils from mussels, oisters and other shell animals in the chalk.

I combined the video I filmed there with the ending theme of Shadowhearts, sung by Kashara Hiroko.

@g1981c perhaps its because my DNA is more southern than yours. this Mons Klint looks beautiful but alien to me. my subconscious mind is telling me " this is hell, don't ever go there ." actually now i understand why black people rarely go to live in places like Iceland - i thought that they can't physiologically tolerate the cold, but now i think that can't *psychologically* tolerate it.

@g1981c and i think the strongest component of that experience was the smell - an overwhelming smell of life - the smell of flowers, earth, sun. Rain tends to "wash away" the smell of everything but rain itself. Cali on the other hand is very very dry, and the smell is so strong its almost enough to make your head spin. Just being there felt like taking ecstasy in a club for the first time ... perhaps the endorphins released from pedaling the bike were part of it as well.

@g1981c while there i was haunted by this intense feeling that this is where i was supposed to live, that this is what the planet was supposed to be before we destroyed it. i wished i could just live with those rabbits and die in that grass and never have to see another building or car again. it wasn't an intellectual understanding but purely an emotion - an overwhelming one.

@CarinaJoergensen true, but i think California is misunderstood because of Hollywood. the impression i had of California from the movies is that its all about Porn, Bodybuilding, Bikinis and Shiny Cars. actually living there though i was spending my time riding my bicycle through a wildlife refuge park, racing seagulls and trying not to run over rabbits.
