(This was by request) This is one of Rush's most difficult and action-packed songs...and one of my all-time favorites! After many practice runs, I recorded this in one take up to last 10 seconds of the song (which is another take) I played some sections and fills from different "live" versions of this song. Overall, I'm happy with it. Some of you will notice I have a new crash cymbal...It's a 16" Paiste Signature series Power Crash. I think It sounds amazing..I'm really digging the "signature" series Paiste line. I went from being 95% sure on that 2002 ride to about 60% lol. I'm looking into a "signature" line ride now. Ridiculous, I know, but I just want the perfect ride sound!...I hear it in my head, the 2002 was close. I am sold on the Paiste crashes though. My set-up will consist of a combination of Paistes and Paragons. Anyway, re-posts of YYZ and Natural Science are next!
Peace,
Ray

BTW, please excuse the cheesy cinematic "title sequence" I didn't want to cut out any of the song and I figured it's better that looking at me just sit there!

  • I'm not ashamed to admit that I teared up a bit at your brilliant recreation! My friend and I spent countless hours back in the 80s trying to figure out how the professor did those parts and finally decided that he was some sort of super

alien and gave up! You F**KING rock! By the way, thanks for proving that you're human with that slightly sloppy footwork around 5:20. Otherwise I would have had to label you as a super alien as well!

  • @amb123456barry6 Thanks a lot man...and thanks for not mentioning the other sloppy bits as well!

  • BRAVO!!

  • Amazing!

  • dude wow you're a fucking beast .excellent job !

  • Very impressive! I usually don't comment on Youtube videos, but wow... Best version of this song by a drummer not named Peart or Portnoy that I've ever seen.

    Bravo!

  • Fantastic work player

  • Great work on this!

  • Very Well Done!! - Rush has been, is, and always will be my number 1 favorite Rock Band in the world - and you did a great job "trying" to imitate - but there can BE ONLY ONE Neil Peart!!! I saw them like 10 times from 1976 to 1988 live they are still in my opinion the only LIVE rock band that sounds as good or better than their studio recordings....

  • You need more cymbals.

  • Great job, Ray. There's a guy (channel) on YouTube called Astrotama..I don't think he ever leaves his basement - he's VERY solid too. It's extremely hard to cover Peart...

  • ohh baby zeus shit !! awsome dude
