Ok Hip Hop isn't just rap. Rap has many influences like Dancehall Reggae.

But it is true that dance styles like Locking,Poppin & Bay Area Strutting did start on the west coast and became a part of Hip Hop.

  • LL peep the skill

  • @on7allday fella..you are misinformed, BIG TIME !!! Hip Hop started in the bronx, NEW YORK and brought to America by Clive Campbell aka Dj Kool Herc who came from Jamaica in 1967. It is documented. DJ Kool Herc was the first to bring the concept of "break" which is using two of the same records on two turntables and looping it..then he would chat a few words over a mic... Look it up, google him or speak to a real hip hop historian and they will tell you the truth. peace out !
