http://www.worldwone.com Activists angered by the Chinese crackdown in Tibet disrupted the Olympic flame-lighting ceremony Monday, unfurling a banner and calling for a boycott of the Beijing Summer Games.
The incident occurred as Liu Qi, president of the Beijing Organizing Committee, was addressing thousands of spectators, dignitaries and Olympics officials, minutes into a flame-lighting ceremony guarded by 1,000 police officers and commandos.
The brief disruption was broadcast live by Greek national television but the Chinese state channel cut to a pre-recorded scene.
The authorities issued no immediate details of the incident, but the Athens chapter of Reporters Without Borders, a media rights group based in Paris, said three of its members had staged the protest. The activists were taken to a local police station and faced possible charges for breaking into the ceremony's ancient grounds and flashing a black banner depicting the Games' trademark Olympic rings as handcuffs.
"We cannot let the Chinese government seize the Olympic flame, a symbol of peace, without denouncing the dramatic situation of human rights in the country," the group said.
keep your fuckin politics out of my olympics.

Renaming of Tibetan names is part of the cultural genocide of Tibet being carried out by the chinese communist party. You know so little about Tibet.
Shame on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to give the Olympics to a government who doesn't believe in human rights. The IOC is complacent in causing human suffering!

There is a lesson for all Xizang ethnic minorities (Tibetans) that 99.999% of the world's population believed that Xizang province (Tibet in English) is a part of China. The 2008 Beijing Olympics Games had been very, very successful and the Best in History. It made many billions of people in this world Happy. On the other hand, all those people who tried to disrupt the Beijing Olympics, had been Unsuccessful and many are feeling ashamed about their cowardly actions now.

很高兴奥运会差不多可以圆满结束了。20年划30年以后那个挥旗子的人会对他今年的作为有何感想呢?那时候再听他说。

Hujinyong199, I'am from The Netherlands. China as you know it is a young country. The China from the past has been wiped out by Chinese corruption, the west and the communist. We get our information from Tibetan refugees. What is wrong with their statement? Think for yourself and be critical of what your own government tells you. And study a bit more on your English, yours is almost just as bad as that of Americans.

Have you ever been to Tibet? If not,how do you konw that the Tibetans are not living on their own? From the fucky western media like CNN or BBC? The western media just focus on the shadow of the world, they are liars full of vilification and prejudice. Why the western world always have pride and prejudice on China? Becuase they are afraid of my country's
fast development.
Welcome to China especially to Tibet and you will have a much more understanding of our country.

Djbro16, not after the Age of Enlightenment(at the same time the USA was founded). Because they would tipically start to torture you with horrible acusements(and that would also be the excuse). And after torture most people confess. So case proven right? No, Another change was that one would be innocent(and treated likewise), until proven in court. China(Iran, Iraq, N. Korea) has always been backward on this, The USA joined them recently.
