This is an adaptation to D.H. Lawrence's short story "The Rocking-Horse Winner"
A young boy named Robert is desperately trying to win the affections of his mother, who, consumed by greed, is more interested in acquiring money then her she is in her own son. Robert soon decides to take action, and robs a man and waitress, killing them both in the process, and in madness. He realizes that the money that he has just stole would not be enough, and hopes to stop his mothers greed by exceeding it. After he has robbed a bank, and returns home, he is greeted with a cold reception. His mother, who is still not happy with the amount of money he has acquired, asserts that he must bring more. Robert, not knowing how else to please his mother, decides to end his own life in order to end the madness he is facing.
