there are many bugs that really kill a great game but overall its worth a try. at least a rent.

I don't know all this talk about bugs these days... Supposedly every game is bug-ridden, but I can't remember when that really was a problem for me.
Also the character system is fine in this game. It's not fantastic, but it works OK. Not worth making a fuss about. Mass Effect is much worse, although smooth and therefore almost unnoticeable.

There's nothing particularly wrong with this game (as far as good games go these days it is worth a look), except the hacking mini games. The game would have been far more successful if it wouldn't have the most awful hacking games ever. They are as motivating and entertaining as a nasty system error.

Alpha Protocol sold bad because of its bugs and unpolished state .This could have been a greay franchise But Obsidian failed .Its about time Obsidian makes better development on their games
