Semi-finals match http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEQdjugN7Jw
2009 Mechatronics Competition at the University of Utah for juniors in the mechanical engineering program.
The competition was inspired by the latest Indiana Jones movie. The premise is to go inside the "warehouse" and retrieve the following crates:
Crystal skull - blue LED crate - neodymium magnet - detect magnetic field with hall effect sensors
The arc - orange LED crate - emits IR light
The holy grail - orange LED crate - emits IR light
Points are as follows:
5pts for loading the Crystal Skull -
3pts for loading the other two.
3pts per crate unloaded back at either start area.
Total of 20 pts possible if all crates are retrieved and unloaded. no points for crates that fall off the robot before the time limit is expired.
Time limit is 2 minutes per round.
The crates are randomly arranged on the course by a randomizer written by a TA that puts one prize crate on each row.
After pool play the top 8 robots were chosen for a Elite 8 competition. The matches then became best of 3 (starts @3:10)
1st Brody's 45pts avg: 5.63 pts/round
2nd Crate Raiders 18pts avg: 2.25 pts/round
3rd Crypt Jackers 23pts avg: 2.88 pts/round
4th Team Green 16pts avg: 2.00 pts/round
5th Steady State Error 13pts avg: 2.60 pts/ro
6th Yotta Watt 6pts avg: 1.50 pts/round
7th LeBeouf 3pts avg: 1.00 pts/round
9th Short Round 0pts avg: 0.00 pts/round
9th Warehouse Rats 0pts avg: 0.00 pts/round
Our team name was from Marcus Brody from the Indiana Jones movies.
@2:25 a team had a false start (started before the signal was given) and there robot was removed from the course. We had to load one crate anyways.
