MADZ - We Beheld Once Again the Stars (Riveder le Stelle) @ The Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, NYC

The Philippine Madrigal Singers' performance at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, New York, NY on September 24, 2009. We Beheld Once Again the Stars is one of the songs the Madz performed when they won the prestigious European Grand Prix for Choral Singing in 2007--the first Choir to have won the EGP twice during that time.

"Written for double choir, Z. Randall Stroope has shown Dante's journey from Hell (Inferno) to Heaven (Paradiso). This journey begins at night, and a full twenty-four hours have passed before he reaches the portal, which opens to the light and the stars of heaven. He has seen and experienced everything in the realm of evil, and he must quickly rise to the stars' safety, or remain forever in sin and death. Dante has successfully struggled to reach the opening that leads him to the "Supreme Light." -from the Program Notes

@vcern AHHH. yung EGP, oo maganda naman talaga ang pagkakakanta pero yun ata yung nagsharp yung part ng modulation. hehe. Ang galing galing nila dun, and i still prefer their peformance nung sa EGP than dun sa iba pang mga versions. I really love this group. pag may mga pagtatalo (hehe), bias ako sa madz. hehe.

actually they used the same key as to the EGP in 2007... meaning it is what is stated in the piece... the arrangement of stroope though is very tricky... we have sung this piece and many times during our rehearsals, we are also half note higher...
