Sri Lanka and Vietnam have agreed to solidify state relations. The second round of discussions of the Joint Commission between the two countries was held in Colombo.
An agreement on the consensus reached between the two countries was signed at the Foreign Ministry. Minister Rohitha Bogollagama and the Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Doan Xuan Hung inked the agreement. Minister Bogollagama said visits by the President and the Prime Minister to Vietnam helped to enhance ties. As two Asian countries Vietnam and Sri Lanka have taken another step towards solidifying South-South cooperation. He described the second round of discussions as an event that displayed cooperation between Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
The Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister said Sri Lanka was one of their friendly countries. Vietnam would extend maximum support to the island. Their intention was to further strengthen relations between the two countries. Noting that Sri Lanka was now a peaceful country, he said her citizens are hospitable.
