TRANSCENDENT MAN chronicles the life and ideas of Ray Kurzweil, an inventor and futurist that presents his bold vision of the Singularity, a point in the near future when technology will be changing so rapidly, that we will have to enhance ourselves with artificial intelligence to keep up. Ray predicts this will be the dawning of a new civilization in which we will no longer be dependent on our physical bodies, we will be trillions of times more intelligent and there will be no clear distinction between human and machine, real reality and virtual reality. Human aging and illness will be reversed; world hunger and poverty will be solved and we will ultimately cure death.

I really like how Ray Kurzweil is thinking. What makes me mad are all the religious pricks who say "oh we can't play god" and "oh we can lose our humanity". Well pardon my language but... Fuck. That. Shit. Being human sucks, you are limited in so many ways, you get sicks and eventually you die from aging. I don't care about being human because no matter what we will become we're all still gonna be persons. That's what matter.

Meh. I think computers appear more intelligent because more and more people are getting more idiotic with each day, and they lose the basic common-sense. Regarding the Singularity, I think Michael Shermer is right: "We will always be five years behind achieving this [Singularity]".

You're being dumb, he takes them to survive long enough until the technology becomes advanced enough for him to live indefinitely. If you actually did some research you might know that.

In Hinduism alone, there may be as many as 330 million gods. That is just one religion and please don't think Christianity is different, each denomination tells you that God has different requirements to allow you entry to heaven. So even if I do chose Christianity what domination do I chose?

good luck with that idea of urs, and I have wayyyy more reasons to be an atheist and to be bitter about religion than u but here I am, I'd rather have an eternity with christ than an eternity on this Earth or in a virtual reality of our own making, as good and exciting as it is, it will come to an end, heaven never will. And who knows, maybe God is someone from another galaxy who achieved Type 7 Civilization status.

So I will gain the world and lose an imaginary ghost that flies in the sky after a human dies. I'm in for a pretty good deal here.
