PLEASE READ... I decided it was time to start all over and present a "first video" that would demonstrate what it is I do and what I teach in my book, "The Card Wizard's Black Book: Second Edition." I am a former dealer, now just a player, and I want to teach people what the hardcore dealers don't want you to know. If you have never watched any of my demos before, start with this one! :)

The Card Wizard's Black Book: Second Edition is available now at http://rossedwardsbooks.blogspot.com and the print edition will be available on Amazon and all the usual places by around mid-October. I'll edit this note once it's shipping. The ebook is available right now from my humble blog, indicated above.

YES, this works for Scars of Mirrodin! The book teaches how. The book also teaches not just what the map is, but how to learn it for future sets, so that you can use this knowledge in the future. Not every set is mappable, but many sets are, including recent ones like Scars and M11. (So far, not Worldwake. But if I get that to work, I guarantee I'll post about it!)

Anyway thanks for looking, hope you enjoy my little demonstration, and good luck in your collecting and playing efforts!

  • @Mrwisckars - booster drafting

  • before i get the book, whats the difference between the first and second edition??

  • @SuperAwesomeness666 -- The First Edition, while groundbreaking and a literary masterpiece, is two years out of date. You will want the Second Edition, as it is current to Scars of Mirrodin. :)

  • thanks ross for sharing your knowledge of the game with us, i am just starting to get into this hobby and as i have no card shop within a 4 hour drive of me i am limited to buying online on ebay, and i almost placed a bid on a booster box of revised, but it was not sealed, so now i will be more carefull from now on, look forward to buying your book as i want to be a collector myself and get cards for a solid deck to play, thanks again....

  • The time limit is now 15 minutes :D

  • Awesome. Once I get a steady job this is what I am getting lol then I can get into MTG more but right now it would be just for reading lol. I am also waiting to have it be able to map Worldwake which is my favorite set :)

  • @ChocolateKurt -- Page 361, M11 map #1. Variant is in effect, which means Hoarding Dragon and Baneslayer Angel are swapped. The Fauna Shaman is the one in row 2 column 4, below Grave Titan.

  • @ChocolateKurt nowhere in the list does Fauna shaman appear next to baseslayer, I'm a bit confused.

  • i bought your book and I don't understand how that last pack could have possibly been a baneslayer angel? It should have been a hoarding dragon. What's up? can you explain.

  • Hey Ross, a couple of questions - First, how can you tell if you have a Type A or Type B box? Is there a certain website you can buy from to be sure it's Type A? And secondly, besides simplicity, is there a reason to go for Japanese boxes? Are they more valuable or something? Thanks again man
