  • Interesting, comparing to the music of the fifties, the 10' and the 20's songs weren't romantic.

  • King689 , you are a god for uploading all of this !!! American music is the best.

  • @sandinmyears1 Cagney changed it. Calling the flag a rag might be considered a little crass.

  • I never caught that the first line was "You're a Grand Ole 'RAG'." I wonder if Jimmy Cagney sang flag in both lines 1 and 2. ??

  • all the music where they sing sucks. The orchestra/piano ones are ok.

  • We can learn so much about American history listening to the music from this era. I think this is really special.

  • BEFORE YOU EVEN SAY IT:

No one cares how old you are.

  • @TheDace0123 Because you learn them when you were in elementary school.

  • 1900 song, Hello ma baby. If the 'first' ragtime song 'The Entertainer' was in 1902 how the hell did this guy who made the hello ma baby song find out about ragtime?

  • This is fantastic! Some of these songs I can remember my Grandmother teaching me, some my Father sang as a result of learning them from my Grandfather. Some I learned and became fond of in chorus through school. I can still remember many of the words. Also as a child the house we moved into had a stack of old records in the basement that I used to listen to when I was a child. Those thick heavy old kind. This brings back so many memories for me. Thank you so very much. I was born in 1964.
