Cesc Fabregas speaking to the media as the ambassador for Spain and Portugal's 2018 World Cup bid

Injured Arsenal and Spain star Cesc Fabregas said on Tuesday (October 5) that the joint Spanish-Portuguese bid for the 2018 World Cup is the best and Spain will probably have another world-beating team then too.

Fabregas will be helping to promote the bid at the 'Leaders in Football' conference bringing together in London on Wednesday and Thursday around 1,000 senior executives from football clubs, leagues, federations and sponsors.

The 23-year-old won the World Cup with Spain in South Africa, but is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury that will rule him out of the upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers against Scotland and Lithuania.

Asked why he thought the joint Spanish-Portuguese World Cup bid was best, Fabregas said: "Because we have everything really. You have everything you can ever ask to have a great World Cup and for the fans to enjoy. You have the most beautiful stadiums around the world.

"You have the most amazing football fans and the most fanatic football fans you can ever ask for. You have the weather, the perfect weather, I would say. You have great food. You have airports. You have great hotels. The atmosphere is fantastic. You have four or five of the best cities around Europe and in the world and all you can do is just enjoy yourself."

He was also asked if he thought Spain's emphasis on nurturing young talent was important.

"I don't think it's important, I think it's vital, because eight years ago we were the youth and now we are here and I can guarantee you for sure, knowing all the players that are growing up and all the coaches that are teaching them, that they will be great players and in eight years, in 12, in 16, a lot of Spanish stars they will come through," said Fabregas.
