This is the second installment of my Phtoshop demos/tutorials where I show y'all the fun of just creating somthing from scratch in this wonderfully versatile program. In the local art community I am mostly known for my humorous paintings of cats, and sometimes, when teaching a client how to use photoshop as a painting tool, I'll whip out one of my cats as a quickie demonstration. This is one way to do it starting with a monochrome gray image, then adding color to taste. To run in the time allotted I had to speed the video up a notch, but the process is still pretty fast and gobs of fun.

  • what tool did you use at 8:02 ?

  • @nicepuppy123 The "Dodge" tool. Says so right there in the video. That's the icon in your toolbox that looks like the black lollipop I mentioned before. Same place where you find the "Burn" tool. At that point I was doing it on the upper layer where I had applied color to "rem-light" the cat.

  • @BaronDixon sorry i meant the uhhhhhhh airbrush tool where do you find it or something? sorry for all the questions still new on photoshop.....

  • @nicepuppy123 The PAINTBRUSH is what functions as an airbrush. Pick a blurry round brush from the Brush Palette.

  • where's the burn of burnt tool i have photoshop cs5 and i cant find it :(

  • @nicepuppy123 On your toolbar, click and hold on the icon that looks like a black lollipop. That's the "Dodge" tool, by the way. A fly-out menu will appear showing three tools: Dodge, Burn, and Sponge. The burn tool icon is a hand with curled fingers.

  • At the beginning, it it wans't for the ears, it looked more like an yeti than cat.

  • you have an excellent radio-voice!

  • I would really like it if you would post your art to a site like deviant art so we could see a high quality version of the finished product. :)
