A friend and I were discussing different interpretations of this song and lyrics. Here is one such interpretation. My first use of Movie Maker.

Make up your mind
Decide to walk with me
Around the lake tonight
Around the lake tonight
By my side
By my side
I'm not gonna lie
I'll not be a gentleman
Behind the boathouse
I'll show you my dark secret

I'm not gonna lie
I want you for mine
My blushing bride
My lover, be my lover, yeah...

Don't be afraid
I didn't mean to scare you
So help me, Jesus

I can promise you
You'll stay as beautiful
With dark hair
And soft skin...forever
Forever

Make up your mind
Make up your mind
And I'll promise you
I will treat you well
My sweet angel
So help me, Jesus

(hey, hey, hey)

Give it up to me
Give it up to me
Do you wanna be
My angel?
So help me!

Be my angel

Be my angel

Do you wanna die?

I promise you
I will treat you well
My sweet angel
So help me, Jesus

Jesus

Jesus

Jesus...

  • lol are u dorks aware this song is about rape??

  • @several28

Actually, it's been kicked around that its also about: the Zodiac killer, vampires, suicide, and (apparently) rape.

Here's the quote from the songwriter:

"It's just a story I heard long ago; it's just a really cool, eerie lake, and some stuff I heard and some stuff I just make up. I tend to do that," Lewis explains about the watering hole where his family used to hang out and barbecue.

The great thing about music: everyone interprets it differently ! :)

  • So I put in 1 shot of an alternate version of what some people believe a vampire to be (cullen)...and you hate the rest of it? How narrow minded of you. What was my reasoning for Cullen? He is a "gentleman" vampire...from what I know--considerate of his lady, kind to her, etc. Haven't read the book, and 1/2 paid attention to the movie.

Dislike the video on its own merits...not because you are biased against 1 movie from where I took 1 clip.

  • You're only saying that because it's got Edward Cullen in it. LOL.

  • Wow, love this song--do you remember how much you loved this one too? Not that old, but had forgot who did it until now. Slideshow image of vampy stuff with this fantastic song.

  • Ha Ha Ha this is what we have turned into from centuries past mon amore

  • For people that think only "in the box" this song is about a rape, a councilor in love with a girl back in toadies town yidda yidda ( which is true cause the group said it itself), but for the people that are creative and think "out the box" and of course know plenty about vampires and love the subject it is a song about a vampire indeed.

  • It's amazing how ridiculously immature people will get over the meaning over one song. Meaning is only based on the interpretation of the listener, hence everyone hear's something different. But that won't stop a few of you from acting like infants. Just at least have the decency to take that shit where it belongs: in political blogs. When you shut out another person's interpretation, you close your mind.

  • This song is actually about taking a girls virginity. He's trying to coax her, she denies him, and he keeps going anyways. Fucking vampire fags.

  • The dark seduction? Enthralled does not mean enslaved, or does it? Entranced, captivated, enchanted. Maybe I'll let you know one day how it feels, delicious. Nice presentation btw, thanks.

  • It's really no surprise that a shallow minded person would comment on this song... Watch a few classics and, then, and only then do you have the right to make that assumption. So all I have to say is do you wanna be my angel.

  • Anyone who's ever read the Ann Rice vampire chronicles would know instantly that this about Vampires. Through all of her books she refers to vampirism as a dark secret and a dark gift. I think the bit about having soft skin forever is another giveaway as well.. Ann Rice refers often to the soft white porcelain skin of the vampires in her novels.

  • @several28 are you aware your the biggest faggot here?

  • there is alot of theroys about this song...it could be about the zodiac killer but i doubt it no refrence to him/her...it could be about the black daliah killer he targeted dark haired women...i think it's about vamps but that is because i like vamps....who knows except the toadies
