I was a student at a major medical school. Each unit conducted research. Many of the patients were part of some MD grad student's PhD thesis. Each task a student performed was the responsibility of the Nursing School and not a staff member.
New nurses which want to retain staff will find the save money in the long run.

Great stuff.
For example, I was to pass a research drug. I had to go to the Med school-Grad school prof to learn about the med and the pathways. After I gave the med, I was surprised to learn my pt was in Grand Rounds that day. I was able to explain the med to med school profs from Harvard, Stanford, Hopkins, etc.
I was a part of the research team and represented my school, the Med school and the Grad school.

while a student nurse, we were not to bother the RNs about our assigned pt care...we were to ask our profs or the supervisors who had dual appointments..a stzff member needs to be assigned as a PAID instructor for new grads who should be in an internship...

@shambley2 I'm sorry for your experience. That's not the way it should be. Every member of the floor needs to welcome, embrace and support new nurses or student nurses for them to be successful. One by one we can change the culture by doing what we know is right.
