Bret Weinstein is an evolutionary theorist and member of the faculty at The Evergreen State College. In "Natural Selection and the Evolution of Climate Change" he considers how the choices individuals make trying to do right, can often be ineffective or even harmful.

On April 16, 2012, speakers and attendees gathered at TEDxTheEvergreenStateCollege: Hello Climate Change to reflect on the ability -- and responsibility -- of formal and informal education to inspire and empower action in this era of climate change.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Probably the most important Ted talk I've ever seen.

Weinstein wants well-informed, critical minds to objectively analyze the broadest volume of empirical, peer-reviewed research to determine whats most beneficial for most people in most situations, NOT just ONE class, etc. Ethics ARE quantifiable. U condemn government in lieu of ruthless, greedy, undemocratic privatization that nearly sank the globe & perpetuates war? Democratic gov/law DOES serve to curb human rights violations, & MUST regulate to protect people/enviro from reckless capitalism.

No surprise that business-as-usual interests would oppose this message.

The speaker wants a few self-appointed elitists like himself to decide what is good for the rest of us, then disallow anything THEY don’t think fits the bill. And that will work great because government is both consistently benevolent and wise about what is good? Any evidence of this?? Huge fail in his argument.

Building a firewall between them is essential, but for NONE of the reasons this controlling elitist puts forth. How I open bananas is not "wrong", and I LOVE my carbon bike.

you are on it. find a way to get your information and ideology out there, everyone needs to "get" this. Problem is critical thought is a gene TPTB have eradicated, by design, from modern humans. This is good stuff. Thanks.
