On October 16, 2010, the Town of Oakville dedicated a plaque to Oakvillegreen for 10 years of service to the community. And to thank the founders who introduced the idea of creating a Natural Heritage System (NHS) in the 7,600 acres of land north of Hwy. 5.It was Oakvillegreen, with the support of its members and friends, who lobbied hard, over many years, for the creation of the NHS. Ultimately, an OMB ruling supported the Natural Heritage System and, through zoning, about 25% of the land north of Hwy. 5 was preserved.
