  • I always hate it when people ask this; but I'm going to violate my own rules...What's the song in this vid? Thanks, and cool footage, love the old pics!

  • The first song is the theme from the motion picture "Glory" by James Horner. The second song title is "Journey to Fort Sedgewick" from the movie Dances With Wolves by John Barry. Both songs have been heard in commercials, and the Glory theme was used in the Backdraft movie trailer, though it never appeared in the film. Thanks for the comments.

  • Awesome video! It felt like I know some of the people in the video. Where did you find the time to do this? Great job!

  • That's My Husband's Father at 2:49 of This Video Benny "The Hook" Patterson a TRUE HERO luv ya Dad (:

  • Overworked, underpaid, short-handed, under budgeted. But they still serve and kick ass. Nobody has it harder and nobody does it better!!!!!!

  • You're right !

  • Does any other department in the US see as much fire as these guys do? Hats off to em'

  • I had no idea what Detroit firefighters had to contend with until I read the April Firehouse issue of this year. I'm amazed, and have the upmost respect for these guys. They recently graduated their first recruit class in 4 years, are highly understaffed and underbudgeted. Still they kick ass, day in and day out. My hat is off to you.

  • It's a shame that the damn best fire department in the world has to put up with what the Brothers and Sisters of the Detroit Fire Department has put up with. It has been a consent struggle to get just the barest of funding and nothing gets done until a story of either a DFD Firefighter becomes a LODD or one of the few remaining citizens dies because City Hall closed the closest firehouse. But, it started when the first house was closed, May 1940. They seem to managed to survive in spite of it.

  • Thanks for the video. The people of Detroit still deserve protection, it's a great place with great people.

  • really? that looks like it should be a famous picture.

  • Thank you for this video. I happened to stumble across it and lo and behold there is my grandpa at 2:49. I teared up a little :)
