Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm, ok, these "hi tech football offenses of today......." kind of funny. It really is. Isn't this the wildcat? HA HA HA How football goes back to the good old days
-
Was this pre-inthegrasp days?
-
Actually to the one poster-the 40-6 game was a win by the Cardinals, with Ernie Nevers scoring all 40 Cardinal points-6 touchdowns and 4 extra points.
-
"Today's paid attendance... 12. The Cardinals and Bears thank you very much."

Love it.

John Meyer you have the 29 World Series Also, and the 29 Blackhawks ! Are you able to get the exact dates ? Im sure you have for the football , and World Series, but were you able to date the Blackhawks game ?

I cannot date the Blackhawks game. There was no label on the can except "1929 Sports." There is no other footage of hockey other than what I posted, and as you can see, it is very dark, without much detail (the baseball and football are exceedingly clear and crisp when you see the original). Without a scoreboard or some other set of clues, no one can date it.

Wow!! This would have been fun to see live!
The film quality is still good for 1929! Or had this been transferred to new film/video over the years?

This is a transfer from the original 16mm film that has been sitting in an attic all these years. The YouTube version is fuzzy, but the digital transfer is quite sharp.

Were they using the shotgun formation or was I seeing things.I thought Landry developed that. Was it in use prior to Cowboys?Great footage!

The shotgun formation was one of the "original" ways of playing football. It fell out of favor after the T-formation was invented, only to be "re-discovered" by Landry and others. A few East Coast colleges continued to use it throughout the dead period (e.g., Princeton).
