@notdazzledbyheath You should probably get your facts right before being a rascist biggot. The Europeans didn't believe they had killed of all the Maori people at all, they didn't at any stage intend on wiping them out, what a baseless and stupid thing to say. The south island, especially the Canterbury region had no Maori people living there when the Europeans came, hence why there is a larger % of Maori in the north than south. That's why the south is mostly white people.

New Zealander, white New Zealanders especially, deserved to die and to lose their precious Gothic buildings. Those buildings were symbols of how they thought (mistakenly) that they had killed off the Maori population. We can only hope that Wellington will be next and that many more Pakeha (or white New Zealanders) will be killed or suffer permanent disability.
