Terrific Review.
And Kudos on the Bass Fest T-shirt. Tom goes to the mayor was a great show.

Haha, thanks. I swear my head's not that big... keep it up man.

It's the opposite for me, while Swan Lake and Sunset Rubdown are good projects, I much prefer Wolf Parade. I love the balance between Krug and Boeckner, and seeing how well they compliment each other. However, Sunset is really growing on me.

As hackneyed as it sounds, this group is too similar to Arcade Fire for my ears.
There was one guitar solo on the whole thing that was pretty killer, but the vocals and chord arrangements were too safe and delicate for me to enjoy
I did not read the lyrics though, which could have been its saving grace.
no matter, good review
your posts are addictive, brother! Keep it real p/o

I must urge you to listen to their previous album-random spirit lover. It has all the positives mentioned in this review, many times over. Incredibly rewarding listen, granted you give it the time needed to penetrate the phenominally dense structures.

I checked out Idiot Heart and it was pretty good. I was getting ready to hate it cause I don't really like Wolf Parade. This stuff sounded much better to me. And it's totally pop music. I'd say any music with an element of sweeteness and sillyness or playfullness to it is pop music. Pop and rock are closer than 2 pages in a book. Pop is just short for popular and these guys definatly dabble in some popular indie rock themes. Surprisngly good though. Damn you and your good indie rock ! GOOD DAY !
