@lbb101 .... as I rethink it. There is a whole host of original Oi!-Bands that started mixin' up Northern Soul, Ska and Powerpop and Punk: Skin Deep, the Guttersnipes, the Burial ....

@poulsontheprick well, talk to Roger Miret about it. Inspite that Roger probably doesn't agree to the political views, he might give you a little more Skinhead history. He is well aware of it. The Ska/Reggae labels were total independents. And history then is pretty straight forward. Just look on Last Resorts bassist Arthur Kitchener Mod in 62, then Skinhead, studio musician for Trojan, got involved in 2Tone and Oi, covering Agnostic Front last LP ...

@lbb101 Its hard to see a connection between this and Agnostic Front.Sure there is a thread that starts with the Afro Carib stuff but i prefer the really heavy stuff and i've always thought this kinda stuff was only representative of money hungry record lables with little soul in mind.

@poulsontheprick and for sure they are. It's not typical for Skinheads to play in a Neo-Soulband. But why shouldn't they? This pure british soul beat. And soul, as you know, is essential that skinhead could evolve. Since it's the Mod music, and Mod became working class Hardmod, and Hardmod became Skinhead. Soundwise, they remember me of Dexys Midnight Runners first album. When the Dexys were not yet popfolk but disillusioned Soulboys. By the way Skinhead was very pop in 1969 and the 2Tone-Era.

@poulsontheprick I agree. Just Soul music, so what. But still quite OK.
Top tune!! Whatever happened to socialist Britain?

@ mutleychutney I think they're more likely to be talking about the "Labour" Party and the Union leadership.
btw, to our Nazi interlopers, fuck "white power" and its concomitant small penis (that is if it hasn't been fucked enough already).
