First, "illusion" refers to the name of the dance move, with the addition of a hoop in this case. This is a second variation I discovered while messing around with the first.

It a bit easier since there's only one 360 degree turn, as opposed to two in the first version.

If you want to try it, definitely take time to stretch, especially the hamstrings! Gotta exercise caution with the sudden-kick action!

To start: get the hoop rotating vertically in front of you. A 'round-house' type kick up & over the hoop starts the first 180 degrees. While the leg is up, transfer hoop to the opposite hand. By the time the kicking leg is closest to the ground, you should be facing backwards. The leg continues back up in the second 180 degrees, transferring the hoop between the legs behind the body. Leg continues back & down. It is sort of a big ol' circle kick spin with 2 passes under the kicking leg, if that makes sense?

Anyways, it's not perfect here, but you get the idea? Hope someone has fun with it! :-)

  • is the song your playing by mouse on mars?

  • @dennasaurr actually I just looked it up & it is a song called "Calcutta" by Aphrodite. It's a good song & a fun album ("Aftershock")

  • what is that move called where it looks like ur doind a 360 one one leg :????

  • @radost581 It's the same name as in my "Illusion breakdown" video, if that is what you are referring to?....

  • How do you keep from falling over during the turn?

  • @boisehoopla To keep from falling over, you gotta really bring awareness to your foot on the floor & your center. Keep your weight low throughout the move, focus on balancing on your standing leg as the other kicks out & as you turn, keep focusing on that standing leg. Try not to be in your head or upper body too much, if that makes sense? Also the straighter you can get your kicking leg directly overhead, the less mass there is pulling you out to the side as you spin. Hope this helps!
