This video demonstrates the Grote model 99630 LED strobe flasher. The module itself is very heavy duty, encased in an sturdy aluminum housing with all the electronics encapsulated. There's a removable cover attached via four screws and sealed with a rubber gasket so you can replace the module's fuse, should it burn out. Again, heavy duty aluminum, encapsulated circuit-board, gasket-sealed cover, this thing is practically indestructible.

Normally this flasher would be used on garbage trucks to flash their rear amber turn signals in an X-pattern, and indeed we bought it to hook up to one of our garbage trucks...Of course it just ended up sitting in our shop for a year or two collecting dust, so I figured I should get some use out of it, considering how much it cost (around $170).

I thought if it can work with four LED turn signals, surely it could work with a pair of LED BTT lights, and sure enough...

The module has four outputs, a trigger wire that activates the strobe function, a wire that patches into each turn signal output, and a wire that connects to the reverse lights, should you want your brake/turn lights to strobe when you back up.

The cool thing about this module is that your turn signals (and brake lights in this case) override the strobe function. So you can have your lights flashing, and as soon as you hit your brakes or turn signals, the lights will stop strobing and act as they normally would. Then, about 1.5s after you turn off your signal/let off the brake, they'll start strobing again. Very cool feature.

As stated, this is an X-pattern flasher, and normally it would flash four lights in an X-pattern, but considering I only have two brake lights, they just alternate. You could also switch one of the output wires and have them both strobe at the same time while retaining your independent turn signals, essentially giving you strobing hazard lights.

I was thinking you could also use this for flashing LED takedown/alley lights on a lightbar. The module is a bit bulky to fit in a lightbar, but it could be done.

I'm pretty happy with it. The strobe function gets really drowned out when you have your tail lights on, throw in all the other blinkies, and you hardly even notice them. Good secondary lighting though. And if they're the only things on, you'll definitely see them.
