Final Words of Wisdom. Toy collectors give advice on keeping a proper perspective and collecting for the love of the hobby instead of for investment. Some of them seem disillusioned, which is kind of the way I felt at the time I shot this. This is a segment from In Love With Toys, a documentary about toy collecting that I produced in 1995. The video received national retail distribution. The original master was unavailable, so this clip was transferred from a used VHS tape. As a result, the audio/video quality is poor.

the dude at the end is right. its for fun and its a hobby not for money and investment. most of my friends think i buy toys just to sell them for a higher price later on and i tell them no dude im gonna keep them because i fuckin collectin figures!

This is the same thing that happened with sports card collecting. A fun and innocent hobby corrupted and ruined by delusional would-be entrepreneurs thinking they are going to make a fortune. Meanwhile, the only one's making a fortune are the card and toy companies.
