This is the Bo kata I recently learned. It's my first weapon Kata.
Still working at the technique.

I'm a Sichikyu (Yellow belt) and my style is Shorin Ryu. Nothing beautiful, but you'll get the gist watching it.

The makeshift bo was previously an aluminum flagpole.

  • You have a great start. Remember to keep those knees slightly bent, and make sure to open and close the gate with your feet. Your looking great, keep it up. Now in six months record yourself again and compare.

  • @RuShoKen01 Thanks man! I wish I could remember this Kata. I haven't done it in ages. I don't take Karate anymore because they turned my old dojo into an MMA academy (which I despise).

But that you for a polite and constructive comment. I wish there were more people like you out there, because that's the kind you can learn from.

  • thats nice man, you did really good. keep up the good work.

  • @raccoonJAM Thank you. It's actually been years since I went back to the dojo, so I've actually long forgotten this kata at this point @_@

  • i know of this kate, and this looks nothing like kiambo, or at least i wasnt taught it that way. i also learned and finished bowaza, so technically im suppose to be learning tokimine no kun right now.

  • That's the beauty of Martial Arts.

    Many styles. Many interpretations.

    Thanks for the input though.
