The distribution of dark matter in the Universe. The COSMOS collaboration has just published an article in NATURE describing how gravitational lensing has been used to map in four dimensions (space and time) the distribution of luminous and dark matter throughout cosmic time. This is an excerpt from Raphael Hitier's 'iCare' science program. It's in French!

  • american news channels usually don't touch this stuff because 1/2 the country is religious (christian mostly) and afraid of what reality actually might be. So they keep those people content by feeding them bullshit instead of anything that stimulates the mind and brings up 'relevant' issues.

  • American news channels don't do segments like this because they are held captive by their gov't(s) where fear takes precedes inquiry.

  • There needs to be more of this here in the US on the news. I love to learn about outer space. Though, what isn't shown on the news is learned in science classes at the appropriate time. However, seeing as how so many people watch TV, it'd be great to see things like this often.

  • (Search "Dark Matter 3D Map" for this story in English)

  • I saw they used a small bit of footage from the "Hubblecast 05: Hubble finds ring of dark matter" video, but I wish I knew what else they were saying about it. The 3d map of space was interesting.

  • Ah dinnae know Francais.

  • This is why math majors have to learn either french, german, or russian... because americans dont do this kinda stuff

  • je parle francais mais ces deux la me tombe sur les nerfs

  • I think their too busy attempting to distract people to show something so worth while

  • I agree!
