I was flying some gentle aerobatics over the Indian Ocean coast near Perth, when the engine stopped dead. I called "Mayday" and set up for a forced landing on a golf course driving range. Then I realised my GoPro camera was mounted on the bonnet, so I turned it on. At 1:24 I make one last, unsuccessful attempt to get the engine going. At 2:20 to clear golfers out of my way, I shout "Look out! Fore!" and then land, slaloming between the driver distance marker posts.
The landing was successful. FournierBob
A motorglider gives you just so much more time and additional options. I flew a Chevvron 2-32C microlight motorglider, with a 4 cylinder 2-stroke Koenig radial engine for quite a while. Had a couple of 'its all gone quiet at the front' moments myself and was very glad of the fact that the machine I was flying was not about to imitate a Steinway grand piano and virtually plummet out of the sky... No dithering about with this forced landing. Excellent work.
