Building tomorrow's healthcare teams...
At UCSD medical and pharmacy programs partner together to build an integrated curriculum designed to assemble the interdisciplinary, patient-centered healthcare teams of the future. Medical and pharmacy students begin their training with one year of shared didactic coursework, where students take classes together, study together and build the foundational professional relationships needed to develop the skills necessary to create tomorrow's healthcare teams. Students learn to translate their knowledge and skills into practice by working side-by-side with other pharmacists and physicians at the UCSD student-run free clinics, which provide free healthcare to underserved populations in the San Diego community. At the free clinic, pharmacy and medical students teams work together to assess and treat patients to optimize health outcomes. By fostering collaboration early professional development, UCSD is working to build healthcare teams that will be equipped to meet the changing needs of patients.
