Days before the G20 financial summit in London, Zhou Xiaochuan, the governor of the People's Bank of China, called for a new currency to eventually replace the US dollar.

The dollar, which was made the reserve currency after World War II, has come under increased pressure of late.

Barack Obama, the US president, cast doubt upon calls by senior Chinese authorities for the creation of a new global currency to replace the dollar as the standard bearer for the world.

  • Beancube2008, gold is money. Max Keiser is absolutely correct. Gold is scarce, and therefore an economy based on a gold reserve is 100% accountable.

Money is a symbol for value, therefore scarcity, desirability, durability, accountability, and inability to counterfeit are the key ingredients to a money. Gold is the universal element that most satisfies these conditions.

"Know them by their deeds". Anyone against a gold standard is either completely ignorant or a would-be thief.
