I really liked what you said about how the system is set up to support the status quo while making things difficult when one wishes to blur boundaries. It's not fair but it really seems like that's the way it is.
I'll create an analogy to summarize my argument as succintly as possible: If we lived in a society that ostracized shortness, then at some point psychiatry would develop a diagnosis for the "disorder" that short people would have. Psychiatrists might call it Height Incongruence.
I could get all long-winded and blah-de-blah ranty about society and how schizophrenic (ha!) the mental health profession's attitude toward TG/TS/etc. is but I'm sure you know all those arguments.
I think I have an idea of what you're trying to say, but I don't want to assume. If you wanted to say more about what GI is a symptom of, that would be rockin'.
Good points in the second half; I hadn't heard the idea that sex-reassignment subverts sexism mentioned much. (I prob read about it before but forgot, at some point. I'll try to keep it more in mind.)

Hothead Paisan rules! She would have been my answer for the "Gender Heroes" topic.

Search for "SAS LED safety glasses" on Amazon, and for under $11, you too can be bionic.

To my mind, the primary difference between GI (or whatever) and homosexuality is that GI is a symptom.
