@dclx5i - Thank you. There is a lot to be spoken about the Tanpura - its history, development, usage, types and also modern experiments in new designs. This was a short speech in answer to an unexpected question asked right before the performance, so was answered without proper preparation. One of these days I will discuss more about the Tanpura either here or on my website.

i wud also like to say that it was nice to see you using an actual tanpura in ur show, they've become so rare since the electronic sound box instrument have got popular.

@dclx5i - I like to use the actual instrument where I can. Actually, two of them, one on each side, sound very nice! I do not like the electronic sound boxes. If I absolutely do not get a tanpura for my concert, I make do with a recording of my tanpura on a CD, played in the background. Far from ideal, but better than the soundbox. I reiterate however that there's nothing to beat a real, large sized (which the tanpura in this concert was not) 4 (not 5 or more) stringed authentic instrument.
