"Drill, Baby, Drill!" was a 2008 Republican campaign slogan originally used at the 2008 Republican National Convention by former Maryland Lieutenant Governor, current RNC chairman Michael Steele. The slogan expressed support for increased drilling for petroleum as a source of additional energy.

It's because they are ignorant. They only listen to one side and are fed the pseudo-"fair and balanced" BS from Fox and wring wing talk radio and they buy it without questioning it or doing any kind of research of their own. I used to be a republican and once I got away from Fox and started researching both parties I realized every reason I thought I had for being a republican were complete lies to attract votes. This is hardly a left/right issue. The oil is finite. Prevention of releasing the oil reserves into the oil market will save the oil and smooth out the inevitable price rise and buy time for America to adjust to price rises in oil. As the price increases. An increasing portion will be restricted to a dwindling category of industries and ultimately the US military.

Encouraging chanting is about prevention of critical thought for the sake of short term popularity.
