  • What if i buy a simple cooler without any holes in it, and then i pour everything from the mash tun through a large strainer into a separate container?

  • Hmm I don't know. I guess in theory you could do that, I've never tried that. Might be sort of awkward and heavy to tip over and pour from the top. Be sure to get all liquid out and take a corrected gravity reading after everything is in the kettle though, to be sure.

  • Brett brux. Darn autocorrect.

  • 11 gallon all grain batch: 17 lbs pilsner, 2.4 lbs caravienne, 1 lb clear candy sugar. 3.4oz hallertau for 60 min, 1.5oz Styrian for 20 min, 1.5 oz Styrian for 5 min. Primary with wyeast Ardennes or white labs Bastogne. Add Brett brut or Orval dregs to secondary. Wait 5 months, taste, then bottle with priming sugar. Try to bottle with o2 barrier caps, as you can cellar this beer for years, and the longer you let it age the better it gets. Good luck!

  • Is that Blichman kettle a 10 or 15 gallon?

    Nice video!

  • its a 15 gallon. perfect for doing 10 gallons batches!

  • @HomebrewersAlley okay, thank you for the tips. My first brewing experience will come with liquid malt and that being successful i'll hop straight to all grain brewing :)

  • hey guys, nice brew, orval is my favorite Belgium ale, any chance you can put up the recipe? also please check my videos for my all grain belgium dark ale, sort of a chimay blue kind of beer

    keep up the good work

  • Thanks! And that is a 15 gallon Blichman.

That's a good idea, we might have to try that. I guess we could just run the wort through the pump and back through the sparge arm during vorlauf. Right now we just use pitchers and recirculate for about 2-3 minutes. Usually while that is happening the pump is moving the 183F water up into the sparge tank at the same time. So I guess its just a timing issue.
