this is a really great and fun game

the game is not difficult once you get the timing right eg: some have a combo like: left let and big right, if you manage to throw a quick punch just after the 2nd move, the opponent stops. You do that a couple of time, then the opponent starts to go backward and it's when you throw your heavy punch, if you connect, he'll go down and eat the canvas

so the challenge is to recognize their combo stuff and the right timing to stop it.

The US version of Final Blow MD was known as James "Buster" Douglas Knockout Boxing, due to SEGA adding him in the game to capitalize his victory over Mike Tyson (and responding to Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! at the time).

Ya it's not very forgiving. I tried putting the arcade version on easy and it was still ridiculously hard.
