City Council Member Regina Romero asked for legal advice on whether the City of Tucson should sue the State of Arizona over SB1070. After the executive session they had a time for public comment. Gabriela Saucedo Mercer was born in Mexico but immigrated the the United States legally and spoke against the idea that the city should sue the state.

  • I have lived in Arizona for 31 years now. I am proud that this lady is a citizen of my state. We need more immigrants like her. Not the illegal ones.

  • Excellent! She only reiterates what is true.

The elected officials need to pull their heads out of their asses and listen to the people who pay their salaries and voted their useless asses into office. This women is 100% correct.

Why can't the truth be seen?

  • One year later... :(

  • I love that lady! Send her to Washington & let her clean house. All three branches for that matter.

  • President of Mexico "We send back them".

  • @ravenppsv Or else be imprisoned? Sent back to a country where you will be imprisoned or (and in the cases of some countries) killed? I agree that people should go through the proper channels to become a legal US citizen, but I don't agree on laws being made to curtail all of our rights as citizens. I don't want my liberties infringed upon so that the government can go on a fishing expedition for "illegals"

  • @TheGabster64 Who said I don't love my country? I love the country I was born in. I love that a nation made up of immigrants fought and strove to become a world power. A strong, proud and diverse nation not free from criticism of its people. Don't mistake my disagreeing of an unconstitutional law, with hatred of the country I was born in. What I don't love is a law that would take away my liberties...my rights as a citizen of THIS NATION.

  • @xoOrgullosaox There are reasons to document immigrants as they come into the nation and none have anything to do with racism. There are many diseases that have been largely wiped out here in the states that are still prevalent in central and south America. There are many who come across our borders illegally that are not just looking for a better life, they are criminals. That is not to say all illegals are bad but go through the process like those who came before you.
