65-year-old Fred Davis makes the first century break of the 1979 World Snooker Championship against 20-year-old Kirk Stevens. Davis went on to win this First Round match 13-8, before going on to lose 13-4 to Eddie Charlton in the Quarter-finals. The commentators are Jack Karnehm and John Pulman.

  • ive googled the ref on this game and it says len ganley but len is much bigger and irish this guy is not ill deffo find out coz it will do my head in now

  • Anyone know the ref.'s name? Whoever he is, look at the way he's clapping the break at the end! Can't imagine that happening now!

  • @Jeremy68 I think anyone human would clap a 65 year old fred davis making a 109 break

    Helps that it was in 1979 tho...

  • this is fantastic regardless of it being 1979, the oldest top pro now is 54 and that's Steve Davis, let's hope he's playing to this standard in twelve years, this footage gives such hope.
