Al-Bukhari narrated in his book Al-Adab Al-Mofrad the following narration that has also been authenticated by Ibn Taimiah in his book Al-Kalim Al Taib: Narrated Al-Haytham bin Khanash: he said: we were with Abdullah bin Umar when his leg fill numb, so a man told him: mention the dearest man to you, so he said,  Ya Mohamed and he became cured.

it is not shirk to say 'ya hussein'. it is however bad to hit yourself like this astaghfirullah - the daughter of ali (ra) said after the khawarij left hussin to be martyed, 'may you be like this till qiyamah' - because they wee in this state.

hadith bukhari - when the prophet passed away abu bakr came to see him, he kissed his blessed forehead and said 'ya rasullalah'.

Why r you guys doing this? Did our prophet (sas) teach us this act....When you call on dead person..."Ya Hussain or Ya Ali" is this is not shirk then what is it? If Ashura was ok, would not it make more sence to beat our self for the prophet (sas)?
