Very effective. You can also put your crafting bench and more furnaces into the walls out of the house, saving more wood and you can place your bed in the floor so you wake up in your house. You could also place your chests in the floor too. :3

I can make this house even more efficient!
For the roof, after building it you can remove the outer edge and get 6 of your wood blocks back. :D
