Hi, The fine Pianist is Dick Wellstood not Ralph Sutton. Thanks for the upload. Jim
-
@lesterwyoung: it`s not Vic but Benny Morton who was 67 years old at the time.
-
@jcfromfrance Gus Johnson on drums; I don't think that's Vic Dickenson on trombone. I doesn't look a bit like him and the player is much too young.

Yank LAWSON - tp
Billy BUTTERFIELD - tp
Bob WILBER - cl
Bud FREEMAN - ts
Sonny RUSSO - tb
Vic DICKENSON - tb

What a great band this really was.Marvel at one of the most underated drummers of them all,the great Gus Johnson Jr.You can't learn to play that stuff from books. You either have it or you dont.Gus had it in spades.Wonderful.
John "Yank" Lawson was my grandfather, this brings back such great musical memories for me. Cheers.

Thanks so much for this post! Been enjoying this band - with different trombones all the time, for years. Great to SEE them! ALL stars ... but I miss Lou McGarity and Carl Fontana.
