I watched once a documentary about Lusitania and there was two things what put things in rather different light.
First, Lusitania Captain (and any other British Captain) have secretly issued order by British Admirality to collide whit any U-Boat which will try to stop them (assuming that Germans will follow proper international sea war law), and second all those pictures showing Lusitania in "civilian" painting in moment of sinking are fake because at that time Lusitania was painted in

dark grey color so any U-Boat commander could easy assumed when saw such ship that he see troop transport ship not civilian liner.
There are still couple mysteries following sinking of this ship and i doubt if they will reveal anytime.

side note: This documentary was made by British historians and beside Lusitania case show couple rather uncomfortable aspects of Royal Navy activity during WW I.
Heck RN ships have orders to stop ANY ship going to German harbors including American ships

whit supply for Germany in times when US was neutral and have right to send thier ships to any harbor they want.
Fact of turning back American cargo ships start very quick rather uncomfortable situation and Washington become more and more annoying because of that but British refuses to let those cargos through blockade until Lusitania sinking put at end US trade relations whit Germany.

You bring up an excellent point Qusza2007. The British Admiralty did issue the order for British commercial ships to ram any U'Boat if they had the opportunity.
Naturally, the U'Boat couldn't take such a hit, so it's easy to understand why U'Boat commanders became "trigger happy".
There are on-line sources for that, I have a URL for it if you wish to see a source for it.

The story of this ship confuses alot of people, the titanic hit an iceberg and sank for 2 hours, whle this ship was hit by a torpedo and sank in only 14 minutes,

Very spooky video, especially since a ship is referred to as "she" a woman singing makes it even spookier.

War is really a nightmare for all many inocent become victims of such a none sense war!! What kind of moral they have in believing philosopical ideas of "strong will live and weak will die!!" bcoz of this line many people just think of they must have power to live but do they need to use inocent lives just to have it!!!
