Climbing the Haystack to reach the summit of Mt Si, August 2009. Video is sped up to 4x speed to be slightly less boring.
I brought my helmet because I didn't know how hard it would be (newly moved to Washington). I've seen it called class 3 in a book, and class 4 in conversation by a few people. Well, it was a lot easier that I thought it'd be. In terms of the rock "difficulty", I guess it's barely class 3? The final short bit to the top once you reach the notch (1:10 to 1:30) feels more exposed because you suddenly see all the way down the West side side of the mountain. I guess it depends on your interpretation of the YDS scale. It wouldn't be pleasant if wet, though.
Thanks for posting... From your 2009 climb to my 2011 yesterday climb... Just as majestic now as then!
